1. A scheduled public record, not a private vault
Sealing immediately makes the title, author, creation time and scheduled opening time public. Only the body stays locked until the chosen time. Keep names, contact details and addresses out of the title if you do not want to publish them.
Once open, the body can be read by visitors who are not signed in. This is not a private letter addressed to one recipient or a secret storage service. Authorized moderators may exceptionally inspect sealed bodies for operational needs; those accesses are recorded in an audit log.
2. Review your draft before sealing
Sign in with an email-verified account and choose Write to enter your title and body. Drafts can be edited or deleted, so use this stage to organize and review longer pieces.
Choose a future date and time, then check the text and its visibility. The password requested when sealing is your UnsealDay sign-in password. If you joined with Google, use the security password you set for this service, not your Google account password.
After final sealing, the author cannot change the title, body or opening time, or delete the record. There is no cancellation step for correcting a typo or rescheduling it. If you need to add context after it opens, leave a comment clearly separate from the original text.
3. Make predictions you can evaluate later
Instead of a statement such as 'things will go well', describe what will happen, by when, and how you will check it. Separate the expected result, evaluation date, evidence and conditions that could change the outcome. Include your reasoning and confidence so you can later review the decision, not just the result.
The following is a fictional writing example, not a real member's record or achievement.
Prediction: My reading group will hold two regular meetings next month. Evaluation: 20:00 KST on the last day of next month. Criteria: Count meetings that actually took place, excluding cancellations. Current reasoning: We have discussed two possible dates with participants. Uncertainty: Venue availability and attendance are not yet confirmed.
When the result is known, compare both the outcome and the conditions you overlooked. An earlier written record does not establish that its claims are true or its predictions reliable.
4. Leave a message for your future self
Describe your current situation, a scene you want to remember and a question for your future self. Explain why you are writing now, so a later reader can understand the context.
For example, ask whether you will still be practising a new hobby next season, and describe why you started and what is difficult today. Remember that anyone can read the record after it opens. Do not include someone else's private life or sensitive experiences without consent, or assume that the service privately delivers the text or notifies a recipient.
5. Check the opening time in Korean Standard Time
Dates and times in the editor and record lists use Korean Standard Time (KST, UTC+9). Visiting from another country or choosing English does not change that basis. Check the displayed date before sealing rather than assuming it uses your device's local time.
At the moment of sealing, the opening time must be at least 10 minutes ahead and no more than 10 years away. This is checked again on final submission, even if the editor has been open for a while. The server clock determines when the body becomes available; an outage can delay access until recovery.
6. Understand what a seal certificate verifies
A certificate is created only when the author requests one for their own sealed record. Its verification link can be shared so other people can inspect the record information and signature verification result.
The certificate provides a technical check of the integrity of the record held by the service. It does not expose the body before opening; afterward, the original content can be checked for a match. It does not certify the truth of a claim, a real-world identity, prediction accuracy or legal notarization.
7. Discuss and report responsibly
Members can comment and reply on open records. Comments cannot be edited, so review them before sending. An upvote or downvote cannot be withdrawn. Disagreement is welcome; harassment and repeated identical messages are not.
Use Report on a public record or comment, or the report option in an author's name menu, to identify the material and explain the issue. Moderators may restrict access under the service's policies; the owner can delete records. These actions do not let an author rewrite sealed content.
Closing your account does not withdraw a sealed record. Sealed records remain with the author shown as Former member. Seal only material you are comfortable making public.
